IMPORTANT CHANGE OF DATE - FINAL SUBMISSION
Sorry about this but the final review date has been moved due to constraints as to when the end of semester exhibition can occur.
THE FINAL SUBMISSION: TUESDAY 15 JUNE
FOLIO SUBMISSION: THURSDAY 17 JUNE
(4PM AT ARCHITECTURE RECEPTION)
EXHIBITION SETUP: MONDAY 21 JUNE (9.30-2.00PM)
This means the following:
Your design should be completed by Monday 7 June - this will give you 1 week to build a final model and complete the drawings and folio
Like the interim semester you should compile a limited number of sheets (between 10-15) from your portfolio to form a digitial presentation.
Therefore - you have 10-11 days to finish the design process.
The submission requirements are:
1) Complete one set of drawings for the final project: these should be incorporated into your portfolio and be to scale. You might include other diagrams or written text to explain the critical design moves
2) Refine your position statement: it should clearly set out the intentions of the projects, conceptual framework and approach. The position statement should be written as an accompanying explanation of the project. In other words, if you were not there to present the project, the position statement would work as a substitute.
3) Construct a hybrid drawing / model using the laser cutter. The model should incorporate at least one plan and one section as an etched drawing. Think laterally as to how these might be included in the model – is it a pull-apart model? - do you have sliding components which have the drawings etched on them (as if a slender cut is removed from the model)? – are they somehow printed around the model on the base? There are many options. If you wish, you could elaborate on this by including other drawings (ie. axo’s, perspectives) as part of the hybrid model.
4) Provide a printout of the complete portfolio of the whole semesters work – do not bind it – but collate the sheets in the correct order. Include an index and coversheet. The position statement should effectively work as an introduction to the projects within the portfolio. Remember that the order of the work does not have to follow the sequence in which the work was completed (if there is ancillary or less relevant work to the projects this can be placed in an appendix).

Work for the next Week (24-31 May)
You should focus on two things:
1) a broad masterplan for the site (draw on you previous project and your 1:2000 model for how you might organise the project at this scale)
2) build a new physical model at 1:50 - this should be a study of the form, mass and internal organisation of your project in 3 dimensions. IT MUST BE SPATIAL - and provide a sense of what it is like to occupy and experience the building. Do not be precious with this model - it should be rough - quick - and reworked several times as part of the design process. Draw and sketch on it if need be to explain and test your ideas.
Bring the model in to the next class as a work in progress to discuss.
We will have one-on-one crits this Thursday. Times will be determined on Monday.

Final Presentation
With respect to the final presentation - I think you can expect somthing like the following to be the submission requirements:
One superb model
One excellent portfolio - not yet bound (I need to confirm that we have time for binding after the presentation)
One brilliant projected presentation
The week of the final presentation starts June 21st.

- Shadow / Light (simple concept of building)
- Slow food market
- Slow food restaurants
- Little farms near station for experience (educational purpose)
In first research, my part was food and it’s about fast food and slow food. According to this subject, I will combine station with slow food.
Caroline Springs area is under Australian Ecosystems to throughout the construction and revegetation of an extensive wetland, lake and swale system at Caroline Springs since 2000. This work is for environment and nature in Caroline Springs and their purpose is similar with slow food. Slow food is simply sustainable quality food. It’s good, clean and fair food and especially clean means that the way it’s produced respects the environment, animal welfare and our health.
The building of this station will be mainly made up of glass and wood. And, the shape of building is cut and circular shape and the leaned roofs are covered with glass. This shape can show like trunk that cut off. I will make little farms near the station where people can have experience to cultivate some varieties of slow food. Because of the materials and the shape of building, the station building will be well-matched with the farms.
In the station, I will make slow food restaurant to let people know what are slow food dishes and make place for slow food market. According to Slow Food, there a slow food market in Melbourne and it’s held just once every month. So, the slow market in the station will be a unique place where people get slow food more frequently and easier in Melbourne. As well as, the little farms will be a educational place for school kids.

Lynbrook Community Education Centre
(position statement)
A community spirit is created through the interaction of people within that community. Things such as helping one another to achieve a common goal, sharing common interests, learning from one another and fostering others’ skills all contribute to developing this community spirit and feeling of pride and self worth. In a town or suburb, it is often educational institutions, sporting clubs, social venues or other entertainment activities which act as the catalyst to bring together different people in the community.
This proposal aims at building community spirit and fostering community interaction through the provision of a shared public facility with a focus on community engagement and education. The proposed station design incorporates flexible public teaching spaces and a library that would provide a resource for local groups and societies, students from the two nearby primary schools, and the community at large. The space would act as an educational and social meeting place for local residents and school children, providing a small local library and provision for both classes and meetings, as well as social activities.
Groups such as the Lynbrook Residents’ Association will have the opportunity to hold their meetings, and host their regular guest speakers within the centre. By converging these programs into the station precinct, a convenient community education hub will be created.
